Days 21 and 22: Yellowstone, Rushmore and a valley in between.
Wifi is very spotty in Wyoming.
We arrived in Yellowstone and soaked in Boiling River, a hot spring feeding into the Gardiner river. It is hot enough to bun you real quick. If you find the right spot where the cold snowmelt in the Gardiner mixes with the Boiling river it is just awesome.
The rest of the park was crowded, busy and had a lot of people and cars and stuff. Yuck.
We eventually made our way out of the park and into the Wapiti Valley. This is top 10 most amazing places I’ve ever seen.
Descending from 8 000′ down to 5 000′ along the river with epic red rock vistas all around. To top it off the sun was setting into the most dramatic sky. It was an awesome drive down to Cody, Wyoming, the cutest little western town you ever did see. Cool.
Up early and drove across Wyoming into South Dakota’s Badlands National Forest and the Mount Rushmore National Monument.
Lots of interesting geography and history today. Lots of American flag waving. Amur’ca!
Passed the 10 000km mark in our road trip. In Rapid City now typing this up at Starbucks.
We start the long haul across the Midwest tomorrow. Heading towards Chicago.
Talk to you soon,
